Our business is web design, not hosting. But we realized several years ago that we could provide more cost effective, complete solutions to our clients by offering a variety of hosting packages.

How does hosting with us save money for our customers?

Our servers are preconfigured to allow us to easily and quickly set up special services for your web site. Because we know exactly how our servers are configured, and because we have special tools and processes already in place, we can set up your web site quickly and efficiently.

If you host with another provider, we may be required to "decipher" their server settings and "start from scratch" as we develop scripts for your site. That cost would be passed on to you, the customer!

Explaining the terms

Web Space: the amount of physical space on the server your web site uses. The more files you have (especially graphics), the more space you use!

Bandwidth: the amount of data passed across your connection. Larger files (like video) and more visitors increase the amount of bandwidth you use.

FTP: File Transfer Protocol. Allows an authorized user to put and retrieve files on your site.

Email: email addresses in the style of you@yourdomain.com.

Email List: a mailing list, great for newsletters and such.

Database: a MySQL database.

Subdomain: a domain within your domain. This allows you to set up "mini-sites" within your web site. An example would be

www.store.cybscribe.net.

What is web hosting?

In a nutshell, any web site that you want to display on the Internet must reside on a computer, or web server, that is specially configured to display web pages on the Internet.

These high-powered servers are designed to reliably and quickly load your web pages, and they also handle your email accounts, your stats packages, and several other functions for your web site.

So, in order to put your site on the web, you need to either set up your own server or "rent" space on a web server.

At CyberScribe Web Solutions, we provide low-cost, reliable hosting primarily to our own develoment clients, mainly because this helps us save our clients several hundred dollars in configuration costs with each project. Because we know how these servers are configured, we can quickly set up new applications and projects, and then pass the savings on to our clients.

CyberScribe Web Solutions bills for web hosting once per year, and that payment covers all of your basic hosting costs* for the entire year.

In 2009, advances in technology allowed us to switch to a one-size-fits-all hosting plan, eliminating the higher cost plans and providing all the web space and bandwidth our clients need for one low price.
